Board Policy on Swimming
The Board, in May 2013 and again in the summer of 2017, reviewed and discussed the results of a Membership poll taken several years ago which showed that many Members were opposed to a prohibition of swimming in the Marina. Nevertheless, in light of the most-current information, and the recommendation of our reputable and knowledgeable electrical contractor, the Board unanimously approved, and reaffirmed in May 2018, the adoption of a policy stating that “Swimming off the main head piers, the finger piers, boats, or anywhere in the Marina is prohibited.” The float line between the two head piers marks the easternmost boundary of the fairway for boaters, and does not delineate an area for swimming. In summary, due to the unpredictable nature of dangerous electrical currents in the water, the Association and Board do not sanction swimming anywhere within the boundaries of the Marina and any slip owner, guest or visitor who violates that policy does so at his own risk. All Members are encouraged to read the information contained in the articles on marina electrical hazards, which can be found by clicking the links below.
